I could never really get my arms around the idea that "the customer is always right." Many years ago an article appeared in the Harvard Business Review that spoke to this issue. The details escape me however I noted enough to lend legitimacy to my position on the subject.
Many people give lip service to the relationship between merchant and customer. Some merchants bend way over, some bend mildly and there are those who feel entitled. The same can be said for customers. Their are those that work with you, some who tolerate you and then others who simply think "you should be so lucky to have my business!"
There was a time when one might scoff at the idea of firing a customer.
