......is a phrase that was used by several folks in the audience of a seminar I gave yesterday at the PPAI Expo. The presentation explored the dynamics of pricing. Earlier in the day, James Carville in his keynote, said it best when he noted "a few years ago it was about the economy, stupid. Today it's more like "what economy."
That being said, isn't it time to put the economy out of you're mind? I dare say we would be better off by focusing on the task at hand. For me, as an example, it's time to do a better job of marketing my company. Casting the net a bit farther and wider in the search for new clients. At the same time I'll cast a critical eye on the processes employed by my company. It's about exchanging complacency for relevance.
Don't become immobilized by the fear of "this economy". Become inspired!
